The Area Member of Parliament for Kaoma Central Constituency Brigadier General Morgan Sitwala, accompanied by some members of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Committee, has engaged students and management from institutions hosting students currently benefiting from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Skills Development Programme in a move aimed at monitoring progress and strengthening support for youth empowerment initiatives in the district.
During the interaction, the Area Member of Parliament expressed satisfaction with the impact of the programme, noting that the skills development initiative is playing a critical role in equipping young people with practical knowledge and competencies for self-reliance.
The MP, however, explained that since the increment of the Constituency Development Fund, much of the allocation has been directed towards the construction of school infrastructure. This, he said, was necessary due to the severe shortage of classroom space in the constituency, which previously led to some pupils failing to access education.
He emphasized that while significant progress has been made in improving learning environments, the focus under the education component of the CDF will, in the next phase, shift towards the construction of teachers’ staff houses. This is expected to help attract and retain qualified teachers, particularly in rural areas, thereby improving the quality of education.
Management staff from Kaoma Trades Training Institute, Kaoma Youth Resource Centre, and Kaoma Boarding Secondary School, along with students, attended the meeting.
