KAOMA TOWN COUNCIL CONSTRUCTS NEW CHAMBER TO ENHANCE GOVERNANCE AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT.

Kaoma Town Council has officially opened a newly constructed council chamber aimed at improving the legislative environment and strengthening local governance in the district.
The modern facility was officially opened yesterday by Kaoma Town Council Chairperson, CLLR. Tauzeni Libinga, at a ceremony witnessed by the Councillors, heads of government departments and community members.
Speaking during the opening of the chamber, Mr. Libinga has described the development as a catalyst in enhancing the effectiveness of council operations and service delivery.
Speaking at the same ceremony, Kaoma Town Council Secretary Ms. Lisa Mpasela has revealed that the chamber was constructed and furnished at a cost of K930,000 of the Council’s locally generated resources.
Ms. Mpasela explained that the previous chamber, built 59 years ago had deteriorated over time, necessitating the construction of a modern facility that provides a conducive and professional environment for councillors to deliberate on issues and formulate policies that drive development in the district.
“As a Local Authority, we believe the new chamber will greatly improve the working conditions for councillors and create a more structured environment for decision-making,” she said.
The official opening of the chamber has coincided with the Council’s Fourth Ordinary Meeting, during which various committees convened to deliberate on key developmental issues affecting Kaoma District.
Among the matters discussed were strategies to improve service delivery, including waste management, infrastructure development, and community welfare.
The Local Authority expresses optimism that the new facility will not only enhance efficiency in council proceedings but also promote transparency, accountability, and increased public participation in its governance systems.
